Messi, injury means early return home from international duty
Lionel Messi wasn't the only Barcelona player hit
by the international bug this week, with midfielder Andre Gomes picking up a
muscle knock on his upper right leg against Gibraltar, and because the extent
of the injury isn't yet clear, the player is on his way back to Catalunya for
more medical tests.
In the 63rd minute of the friendly, Gomes
took Joao Mario's place and was injured shortly thereafter with only ten
minutes remaining in the match.
Coach Fernando Santos decided to take Gomes
off as a precautionary measure, despite already having made all six
substitutions.
