    Valverde's witty response to the suggestion of resting Messi


    • The Barcelona manager is not going to rest Leo this weekend
    • Messi has scored nine goals in five league games this season



    Lionel Messi has started the Ernesto Valverde era well. The Argentine is in spectacular form, scoring nine goals in five league games, his best start to a season as Barcelona player. 



    Valverde, amid this run, has not refreshed Messi, nor does he want to, as he said when solicited in regards to the likelihood from turning the 30-year-old out of the group at Girona. 

    "Rest? That minute has not arrived and I'm not considering it," said Valverde with a grin, before including that "a player that scores four objectives in an amusement doesn't for the most part miss the following one. 

    That is never occurred with me..." 

    On his part in Messi great frame, he said whatever he does is "puts him on the pitch. The duty is his, he scores the objectives. I don't pass him the ball..." 

    To another Messi question, Valverde stated: "Leo's numbers demonstrate that he's in top frame and we need that to keep that going. 


    He's definitive. We are seeing something one of a kind, what he does each week… he's done things individuals figure nobody can do and we need him to continue onward."
