It has been little over a month since
Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a knee injury in
the Euro 2016 final and only now
has his return date has been penned in for August 27.
The clash with Celta Vigo at the end of the
month is likely to be the Portuguese star's first game back in action whilst
the date of Karim Benzema's comeback is as yet unconfirmed.
A hip injury has plagued the Frenchman's
summer leaving Zinedine Zidane with a number of selection headaches as he
embarks on his first full season in charge.
Injuries are not new to the inexperienced
coach however with Real Madrid having to play 18 games last season without
their full complement of starting forwards.
Ronaldo missed three matches whilst Benzema
missed a total of 15 in the 2015/16 campaign.
For the start of the new season Gareth
Bale will have to lead the front line as he did with ease in
matchday 36 last term with his strike keeping Los Blancos' title hopes alive.
Alvaro Morata will be expected to dovetail
with the Welshman for the first match of the season against Real Sociedad on
Sunday despite suffering an injury scare on Monday when he dropped a weight on
his foot.
