Real
Betis were thrashed 6-2 by FC Barcelona in their opening fixture of the Spanish
La Liga 2016/17 at Camp Nou last Saturday. Luis Suares scored thrice, who was
our pick to score any time during the match. While Ruben Castro scored twice
for Real Betis. Gus Poyet might not have liked what he has seen there but he
must be aware of the difficult job ahead to prepare his team fight for a
European spot this season.
Deportivo
La Coruna on the other hand fought back from a goal down to earn a priceless
2-1 win against Eibar on the opening day of the new league season. After a drab
first half Eibar took a shock lead through Ivan Ramis in the 55th minute. Then
a 69th minute goal from Pedro Mosquera put Depor on level terms. In the closing
stages Deportivo were awarded a controversial penalty which was struck home by
Lucas Perez.
Real Betis vs Deportivo:
Head-to-Head Stats
The last
seven matches between these two sides have witnessed Deportivo winning three
time, as against Betis’ one win, while three matches were draws. The home team
failed to win in any of the matches during that period.
The only
time that home team had a won in the last 10 matches between these two was in
September 2007, with Deportivo grabbing 1-0 victory.
Real
Betis have lost three and drawn three of their last five home games against
Deportivo La Coruna.
The last
five matches between Betis and Deportivo have seen both teams scoring.
Real Betis vs Deportivo:
Prediction
Deportivo
have started their season with a win and will be high on confidence. While
Betis suffered a humiliating loss to Barcelona shipping in 6 goals and their
morale will be shattered. So Deportivo have a slight advantage which is also
due to the fact that the match is being played in front of their home crowd.
But the
home team have failed to win in the last seven matches between these two sides.
And therefore this could be another cagey affair. Also there were three draws
from the last five matches between them, which makes me go for the same here. I
believe this could end in a 1-1 draw and the best bet for the match is to back
both teams to score at least once.
However,
Deportivo could be backed on a double chance win or draw, but from past
experience this is a highly possible to happen.
