Youngster scored against Sevilla and
Real Sociedad
The
breakout star of this season so far will make his home debut in the league for Real
Madrid on
Saturday, as Marco Asensio prepares to take on the challenge of Celta Vigo at
the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Scoring
on his competitive debut in the 3-2 win over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup, his
first trophy, the attacking midfielder followed that up with the second goal of
a 3-0 win over Real Sociedad in the first game of the new LaLiga season.
It has
been a spectacular month for the 20-year-old, who will surely start for Los
Blancos this weekend ahead of the injured Isco and James Rodriguez, who will
have to bide his time on the bench.
Asensio
signed for Real Madrid from his hometown club Mallorca, just over a year after
his first senior game, and had a spell on loan with Espanyol last season,
scoring five goals in 34 appearances.
The
Champions League winners are still without Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo
through injury, and it will be the litmus test of Zinedine Zidane whether or
not he continues to give Asensio minutes when they return.
