The dawning of a new era in the Spanish national side has begun, and Sergio Ramos has suggested
that everyone was surprised when they heard the announcement that Iker Casillas
would no longer be a part of La Roja.
Julian Lopetegui has put a marker down and
has also omitted Cesc Fabregas from the squad, but the Real Madrid man is keen
to look forward rather than back.
"We were all are surprised when a player
so emblematic and historic wasn't called up, he's our first captain,"
Ramos began.
This
new era begins with a radical change and we have to look forward"
Sergio Ramos
"I've talked with Iker a lot but you
have to respect the decision of the coach."
For the first time in a long time, Real
players outnumber their Barcelona counterparts in the side, something that
wasn't lost on Ramos.
"It's good news that there are many
madridistas because in our club we are doing things right.
The
work pays off, look at Marco Asensio who is doing very well."
Sergio Ramos
Despite the changed that Lopetegui has
announced, his captain is clearly impressed.
"We must be patient and ensure that the
ideas of the coach are transmitted in the best way.
"He is eager to regain the winning
spirit and one must believe in this team, because he is a coach who has spoken
to me very well and is excited to begin a new chapter with this group."
