Deportivo
Alaves announced their arrival to the Spanish La Liga in dramatic fashion as
they held Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw. They were on the back-foot for the
entire game, but hardly gave their opponents any clear cut chance to score. It
took until the third minute of added extra time for Madrid to break the
deadline through a dubious penalty from Kevin Gameiro, but two minutes later
Manu Garcia scored a stunner to steal away a point from the title hopefuls.
Sporting
Gijon were expected to struggle in their opening league game against Athletic
Bilbao. But they grabbed a surprise 2-1 win to kick-off their season in style.
After a goal-less and drab first half, Duje Cop broke the deadline in the 50th
minute and then Victor Rodriguez handed Bilbao another blow within three
minutes. Borja Viguera scored the consolation goal for Bilbao in the final
minutes of the match, but it was already too late.

Alaves vs Sporting Gijon: Prediction
Deportivo
Alaves have salvaged an all important point against a strong Atletico Madrid on
the opening day of the new league season. But they failed to register a single
shot on goal until the equalizer and sacrificed possession for majority of the
game. Taking the game back to home, they are expected to play a much expansive
game. While Sporting are also high on confidence after they defeated Bilbao,
but they haven’t won at Alaves in the last four visits. All these facts are
leading to a low scoring draw on Sunday evening. However, Alaves could be
backed on a double chance on the basis of home advantage and a good
head-to-head record.
