Valencia
have sold Paco Alcacer to Barcelona in a 30
million euro deal which the striker believes is positive both for him and for
his former employers.
Having
come up through Los Che's youth system, the striker took the time to address
his now-former club's fans as he completed his switch to the Camp Nou.
"When
I learned that there was an offer from Barcelona, I was honest with the
president and I told her to consider it because it would be good for me in my
career and it would also be positive for Valencia," he told Valencia's
official TV channel.
"Some
people will understand that and some won't, but people have to understand
others' decisions and respect them."
Alcacer,
who completed the move on his 23rd birthday, also spoke of his love for Els
Taronges and of how much he loved his time at the Mestalla.
"I
will always keep Valencia in my heart after so many years here and I will visit
the Estadio Mestalla to watch matches when I can," he said.
As well as
speaking to the official channel of his former club, the striker also spoke to
the Blaugrana's official media upon his arrival in Catalunya.
"I am
very excited to start this new stage [in my career] and to give all I
have," he told BarcaTV.
"It
is a privilege to be alongside [Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar], the
three players I consider to be the best in the world."
The
striker is expected to fit in easily given that he already knows Andre Gomes
and given that he has played alongside a number of players in the squad for
Spain - just as he'll do when taking on Belgium and Liechtenstein with La Roja
over the coming days.
