Juventus latest signing criticised over weight by former player |
following photos of new Juventus signing Gonzalo Higuain appearing to be overweight, former Real Madrid and Barcelona midfielder Robert Prosinecki has heavily criticised the Argentinian.
The pictures were taken during a friendly against West Ham United and went viral on social media, while the former Napoli hitman fell short of expectations after coming on as a half-time substitute.
Prosinecki admitted he was astonished by Il Pipita's questionable physique, but has backed coach Massimiliano Allegri to get him fit and firing in time for the season opener against Fiorentina on August 20.
"I was shocked to see Higuain, he is even fatter than me!" Prosinecki told Jutarnji List. "They paid 90 million for him and he's arrived as a pig.
"I can imagine how shocked Allegri was, after he insisted on his signing. But they will make him fit soon."
Last season, Higuain scored 36 goals in 35 Serie A appearances as he broke Gunnar Nordahl's 66-year scoring record, and that led to the 28-year-old leaving the Partenopei to join the Bianconeri in a 90m deal.
