ucas Hernandez's Atletico Madrid contract has been extended by one year to
2020.
Playing 16 matches - 10 in the
league, four in the Champions League and two in the Copa del Rey - for Los
Rojiblancos last season, the 20-year-old defender has been rewarded with a new
deal.
"I'm very happy to be able to
continue with my lifelong club," he said in a statement on the capital
city club's website.
The Frenchman joined Atletico's
youth system nine years ago and has since worked his way up through all the age
groups, reaching his current role as a regular backup in Diego Simeone's
defensive line.
Theo Hernandez, his 18-year-old
brother, has also just signed a new deal, after which he was loaned
out to Deportivo Alaves for the 2016/17 season.
Both players are the sons of
Jean-Francois Hernandez, who wore the red and white of Atleti in the 2000/01
season.
