Real Madrid's
supporters will be delighted with the way in which Marco Asensio has seamlessly
slotted into Zinedine Zidane's first-team but the emergence of the 20-year-old
has seen James Rodriguez fall even further down the pecking order and
MARCA readers are happy to see Los Blancos sell the Colombian.
Rodriguez had
already seen his place in the starting eleven disappear but with even greater
options now available to Zidane, the path back for the 25-year-old appears
blocked.
In a poll
conducted by MARCA in which more than 29,000 readers voted, a fraction over 59%
were in favour of the club selling a player who would still fetch a hefty
figure should he be made available to rival European clubs.
Certainly, the
playmaker would not lack offers and with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric almost
certain to play behind the front three of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and
Karim Benzema, it leaves an enormous amount of competition for the remaining
slot.
Asensio, Lucas
Vazquez, Mateo Kovacic and Isco are perhaps all more likely to get minutes than
the Colombia captain and, thus, the timing may be right.
